SebaKMT´s portable VLF 60 is designed for HV-tests on cables with a rated voltage of 35 kV or the VLF 40 for cables up to 22kV.

Using the patented SebaKMT Cosine-Square Wave shaped voltage form, with energy regeneration, weak spots in PE/XLPE and paper insulated lead cables can be brought to a breakdown quickly, without unnecessary strain on the cable insulation.

High quality voltage sources and the use of a semi-conductor switch, free of wear for the generation of a regular polarity reversal, guarantee a long life-span. A polarity transition corresponding to the 50 Hz mains voltage is a salient feature.

The optional leakage current measurement permits a direct quality assessment during the test procedure.

  • VLF 0.1 Hz testing is recommended, allowing high cable capacitance, and is the most effective method for testing PE and XLPE cables.
